Is Youfit and Planet Fitness the same?
If you’ve ever visited Planet Fitness and Youfit, you’ve probably noticed some similarities.
The same person is responsible for the creation of both national gym chains. In the beginning, there was Planet Fitness, but after selling the trademark in 2002, the entrepreneur opted to build Youfit on the success of Planet Fitness.
Even though Planet Fitness and Youfit have a similar business strategy, each company has its own unique approach to promoting its brand and bringing in new customers.
Is it preferable to go to Planet Fitness or Youfit? Planet Fitness and Youfit are good gyms, but Youfit is better for experienced gym-goers and athletes.
Planet Fitness does not have personal trainers, group courses, or strength training equipment, but this gym offers a few more advantages.
Choosing between two gyms might be simple at times. Planet Fitness and Youfit are two almost identical clubs, and it might be hard to decide which one is ideal for you.
Here, I’ll go through the pros and cons of both gyms and help you decide which one is ideal for you.
10 Differences between Planet Fitness and Youfit
Even though both gyms follow the same business strategy, this doesn’t make them perfect for everyone. You can see how they stack up against each other in a head-to-head comparison on this page.
The cost of a gym membership is meant to accommodate a wide range of budgets. There are frequently low-cost gyms around you, even if you can’t afford a full-fledged gym membership.
Remember that joining a gym comes with additional costs, including registration fees, yearly dues, and state and local taxes.
The Planet Fitness
There are two types of Planet Fitness memberships: the Classic ($10/month plus taxes) and the Black Card ($22.99/month plus fees) plans.
An annual cost of $39 is required for both plans. However, only the Classic membership requires an enrollment fee, which may be purchased for as little as a dollar.
Non-members may check out Planet Fitness for free for a day before committing to a subscription.
For $10/month plus taxes, Youfit Gym offers the Basic plan, while the Lime Card plan (also known as the Premium Plan at specific locations) costs $24.99/month.
A $29 enrollment fee is required for the Basic plan. There is no charge for Lime Cardmembers to join, and both options have a $53.49 yearly control.
Youfit Gym provides one-time free trial passes.
2. Contract Duration
Chain gyms offer both month-to-month and yearly contracts, but the duration of your contract frequently depends on the kind of membership you choose.
Choose a gym that allows you to select your contract term, depending on how much time you’re ready to dedicate to working out there.
In the Classic plan, you pay a monthly fee, and membership in the Black Card needs a yearly commitment.
Most Youfit Gym locations feature month-to-month leases, while some clubs offer yearly commitments for Lime Card members.
To accommodate the needs of a wide range of people, each gym has a unique setup.
Some gyms contain cardio machines’ rows, while others offer an equal number of both cardio and weight training equipment.
Make a list of the kinds of exercises you perform the most often to make sure you have the right equipment when you join the gym.
The aerobic machines at Planet Fitness outnumber the strong ones. Many treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary cycles may be found in the gym and with some weight equipment and dumbbells.
There are no squat racks or deadlift platforms at the gym, and the dumbbells only go up to 50 pounds.
If you’re looking for more aerobic equipment than strength equipment, Youfit Gym is comparable to Planet Fitness, but you’ll be able to find barbells and dumbbells that weigh more than 50 pounds at most locations.
There are also freestanding benches and bench press stations, and resistance equipment.
In addition, Concept 2 rowers and a modest collection of functional training equipment are available in the facility’s personal training section.
A pleasant and encouraging environment is essential while looking for a gym to join. Going to the gym will become a chore that you dread if you don’t.
One of the most jaded gyms around, Planet Fitness professes to be a judgment-free zone. This is a fantastic option for novices, the elderly, and those who only go to the gym sporadically.
Planet Fitness isn’t the place to go if you’re looking to work out with like-minded individuals who are energized by the prospect of seeing results at the gym.
You can’t work out at Planet Fitness because you’re frightened of setting off the lunk alarm. The bell will ring at many places, but the staff will set it off at certain clubs if you make a minor error.
You may have more negative encounters in certain areas than favorable ones.
In contrast to other gyms, Youfit Gym does not have a lunk alarm and is less ready to turn away those who do not fit into its target demographic.
But if you’re a more seasoned gym-goer, you may feel out of place here.
People at Youfit Gym are hospitable to each other and the personnel. Additionally, it doesn’t become too busy in some locations, making it seem less congested.
5. Policies of the gym
Even while gyms have restrictions to safeguard their equipment and keep their members safe, some gym standards are so rigid that working out effectively is almost impossible.
Make sure the limits at each gym won’t hinder your progress when comparing two options for a gym membership.
To avoid any surprises down the road, you should familiarize yourself with the cancellation rules of each gym before signing up.
Grunting, using chalk, or dropping weights are all prohibited at Planet Fitness. When placing the dumbbells back on the rack or changing the consequences on a machine, you can’t create much noise.
I’ve heard of individuals getting in trouble for being too loud.
Planet Fitness does not allow any exposing clothes, including crop tops or shorts that are too short, to be worn while working out. Shoes must be worn at all times as well.
Black Cardholders are allowed to invite an unlimited number of extra guests to the event each month. You may, however, give your membership to someone else.
Filling out a form at the front desk is the only way to cancel a Planet Fitness membership. The Classic plan allows members to cancel without incurring any fees, and balancing a Black Card membership early will cost you $58.
Youfit Gym, like Planet Fitness, prohibits grunting, dropping weights, and using chalk, much like the other gyms. However, the dress code is looser, so you are free to wear any workout gear you like.
You may bring a visitor to the gym if you have a Lime Card membership.
You’ll need to fill out a form at the front desk if you wish to terminate your membership. You must provide Youfit Fitness with 10 days’ notice before canceling your membership, and you are responsible for paying any outstanding fees during that time.
Cancellation costs may range from $10 to $60 for Youfit Gym.
You may bypass the termination procedure by transferring your membership to another person. To transmit, you’ll have to pay a little charge, and the other individual will have to pay their first and last months’ fees.
People who dislike working out on their own may find the discipline and responsibility that group programs provide and the companionship attractive.
However, group courses are not available at all gyms, and those may not be available at times that suit your schedule.
Small-group training sessions dubbed PE@PF are offered by Planet Fitness, which does not provide group programs. About 10 classes are held each day.
A distinct function is served by each type. If you’ve never worked out before, the gym offers orientation sessions that teach you how to use all machines.
Taking an expedited circuit session is a great way to work out if you don’t have much time. Take a lesson that concentrates on a particular muscle group if you want to focus on a specific section of your body.
Only a few group courses are offered each day at most Youfit Gym locations.
Zumba, cardio dance, step aerobics, kickboxing, spin, and barre classes are some of the most common programs provided at each site.
Members of the Lime Card program may attend as many courses as they like each month.
Tanneries and smoothie stands are commonplace additions to many gyms and standard training equipment. Most gyms, however, offer varying facilities and may need additional fees for some of them.
There aren’t many extras at Planet Fitness. None of the amenities you’d expect to see, such as daycare or basketball courts, are available.
Aside from the tanning booths and the massage chairs, it does include a smoothie bar and red light therapy. All members have access to the facility’s locker facilities and showers.
The tanning beds, massage chairs, and smoothie bars of Youfit Gym are only available at a few of their sites.
They have locker rooms but no basketball courts, saunas, pools, or red light treatment at any of the sites.
Kid care for one child is available for an additional $10 per month. After that, each other kid will cost an additional $7 per month in childcare.
8. One-on-one training sessions
To get the most out of a personal trainer, you’ll need to consider both the expense and the value you’ll get.
Some personal trainers are more expensive than others, but not all can get you the results you want, and some won’t even provide you with individual attention.
Planet Fitness’s personal trainers are certified by NASM or other nationally recognized certifying organizations. You won’t get much individual attention from them, however.
However, if you’re unsure of how to get started with PE@PF, they’ll be able to assist you with a consultation.
In a positive light, all participants of the PE@PF program are entitled to free consultations and lessons.
Additionally, Youfit Gym’s personal trainers are certified by the American Council on Exercise (ACE). Many of these professionals have advanced degrees in exercise science or kinesiology.
Personal training sessions at Youfit Gym are limited to a single session type: 30-minute sessions. Each one costs between $30 and $40.
Packages of two, four, or eight sessions each month are available if you want to purchase in bulk.
Youfit Gym, in contrast to other gyms, does not provide new members with any free personal training sessions.
It’s helpful to know how many gyms there are and where they’re located to plan your route accordingly.
Also, if you want to work out at other gyms while you’re on vacation or if you’re going to divide your time between a gym near to where you live and a gym close to where you work, you should find out about the facility’s reciprocity.
There are more than 2,000 Planet Fitness facilities worldwide. In addition to the United States, you’ll find them in Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic.
Anyone with a Black Card membership may travel to any nation globally.
In all, there are only approximately 100 Youfit gyms. There are a few places in the northeast and southeast, but most locations are in the southern United States. Members of Lime Card may go to any area they like.
10. The Business’s Operating Hours
A wide range of opening and closing hours are available at most gyms. However, some gyms open and shut at different times.
Those who work night shifts or have young children may need to seek a gym that is open 24 hours a day or late at night.
Most Planet Fitness facilities are open 24 hours, seven days a week. It doesn’t matter if your local club isn’t open 24 hours a day; as long as you can get in between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m., you should be OK.
Depending on the location, the hours of operation for Youfit Gym clubs range from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m to 6 p.m. on weekends.
