Our Purpose and Background

Our mission is to provide everyone with access to compassionate, high-quality health care within their means. Our purpose and beliefs have remained unchanged since we were formed on a foundation of goodwill.

As a single hospital, Dignity Health was created on the principle that everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status, is entitled to quality medical treatment.

Catherine McAuley, the first founder of the Sisters of Mercy in Dublin, Ireland, in 1831, made a promise to help those afflicted by disease, poverty, and a lack of education in Ireland.

In 1854, eight Sisters arrived in San Francisco, California, and immediately started caring for the city’s cholera, typhoid, and influenza-stricken citizens. They created Saint Mary’s Hospital and have been in continuous operation.

Eventually, a single hospital grew into several, better serving an ever-increasing population while maintaining its dedication to advancing human health care.

Catholic Healthcare West was formed in 1986 when two Sisters of Mercy communities merged their 10 facilities. Dignity Health was rebranded in 2012 to reflect our values better.

Everyone is born with a sense of dignity. To us, “dignity” is treating everyone with respect and assisting them in leading healthy, fulfilling lives.

Since its founding in 1965, Dignity Health has grown to include 400 service facilities in 22 states, including 39 hospitals, 24 of which are Catholic, and the other 15 are non-Catholic.

Using the Dignity Health account, you may view all of your medical records online from the comfort of your own home.

Personal health data, clinical summaries, laboratory and imaging findings, and educational materials tailored to your treatment may all be accessed on this site for your convenience.

You may securely communicate with your health care teams, send them visit reports, and look for future appointments.

What are the advantages of signing up for a Dignity Health account?

The answer is yes! It is only you who has access to your personal Dignity Health account.

How do I set up an account?

Sign up for the portal on your next visit by mentioning it to the staff. Your email address will be requested, and you may be asked to sign a consent form.

You will receive an email invitation with a link to enroll at the email address you provided. It’s as simple as clicking on the link and following the instructions.

During your stay, you may be able to set up an account at some facilities. Enquire with the staff to see whether it’s offered at the location you want to visit.

What’s the difference between my Dignity Health account and the patient portal?

Both are available to you via your Dignity Health account.

Your “my care.” Dignity Health account gives you the following capabilities:

  • Find and stick with physicians you like.
  • Consult a list of physicians you’ve already seen.
  • Make an appointment schedule.
  • Real-time scheduling of all your appointments (view, cancel, rebook).
  • Fill out forms with your personal information before you arrive.
  • Quick and easy bill payment.
  • In the Dignity Health facilities, locate your way around (mobile app only).
  • Have daily prayers read to you (mobile app only).
  • View and export your Dignity Health-related records via the iOS Apple Health mobile app (iOS only).
  • It is an easier method for patients to access their online health records (see below).

You can do the following with the help of your patient portal, often known as “my portal”:

  • Look at in-depth data about a patient’s medical history.
  • Send confidential messages to your medical team.
  • The notes from past appointments are available for you to peruse.
  • View the results of tests and imaging studies.
  • Determine what drugs you currently use.
  • Prepare for the visit by completing the necessary documents (where available).

Are there any apps that allow me to enter my “my portal.” app with my Dignity Health account?

After you’ve linked your accounts, you’ll be able to access your Dignity Health profile right from your “my portal.” mobile app.

Use the “my portal.” app to connect your accounts if you haven’t already, or use the link in the email that you should have gotten from the Dignity Health Team to connect your accounts.

If a member of my family has a Dignity Health doctor, can I set up an account for them?

Those under the age of 12 who have a Dignity Health doctor as a proxy may establish a My Portal account. Adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 are not eligible for an account.

Before an account can be set up for a dependent adult, they will either need to sign a release, or you will need to produce a copy of the Medical Durable Power of Attorney.

Who can access my account?

You and Dignity Health facility employees can examine some information in your “my portal.” (Patient Portal) account since it is part of your medical health record.

As a patient, you may choose a trusted family member as a “proxy” to access your medical data and assist you in managing your treatment.

The technical support center may be contacted at any time to stop this. The “my portal.” (Patient Portal) account will be enhanced in the future to enable you to enter more health-related information.

If you do so, you’ll be able to access your information from any computer with an Internet connection.

How can I get a new invitation if my old one has expired or is misplaced?

Your hospital or clinic should have your current email address on file, so use that. If you’re looking for your medical records, go to “My medical records” or click “View medical records.” You may resend your invitation after selecting your area.

Who can I turn to for assistance?

Your facility’s Health Information Management (HIM) department should be contacted if you have questions about individual medical records.

Your primary care physician’s office is the best place to ask questions about your health. (844) 274-8497 is the phone number to call for technical support any time of the day or night.

Medical and scheduling issues cannot be addressed by technical support employees, who can assist with enrollment, logging in, accessing “my care.” and “my portal.” (Patient Portal), and issuing a fresh invitation to the email address on file.

Where does my medical information go?

You and authorized Dignity Health staff members have access to your medical records.

Your Dignity Health facility or doctor’s office can assist you in adding a trusted person as a proxy to view your medical data if you need help managing your treatment. By dialing (844) 274-8497, you may discontinue this service at any moment.

A private internet network and applications (collectively, “Network”) belonging to Dignity Health are being attempted to be accessed.

Authorized Dignity Health users who have signed the Network Usage Policy (NUP) within the intervals specified by Dignity Health are the only ones having this kind of access.

Only Dignity Health-related activities are allowed access to the Network. By using the Network, you agree to allow Dignity Health to monitor, record, copy, audit, examine, and disclose any activity and material linked to the Network.

Your supervisor, HR leader, or Dignity Health business sponsor can answer any questions you may have concerning the NUP.

There may be consequences for unauthorized access to or illegal use of the Network, including disciplinary action, termination of a contract, and civil and criminal fines.

The current NUP is accessible online, and by continuing to use the Network, you signify your agreement with and comprehension of the terms of the NUP.

Logging onto the Network is prohibited if you do not agree to the Terms of Use or have not signed the NUP.

Please be aware that only the Windows operating system is currently supported. Despite our plans to support more operating systems in the future, Macs are presently not supported, and users may face problems.
