After a protracted struggle with illness, Phil Collins played his farewell performance with Genesis.

A farewell concert was held in London on Saturday night (26 March) for his 71-year-old followers, in which he told them that it was time for him to acquire a real job.

They pleased rock lovers with their reunion tour, The Last Domino? which included pianist Tony Banks and guitarist-bassist Mike Rutherford.

Covid prompted Genesis to postpone three London performances in 2021, but the band still played in Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, and Liverpool.

Fans were concerned about Collins’ health throughout the tour since he seemed feeble and had to perform sitting down on a chair.

As a result of a decade-long battle with health concerns, he now seems frail and dependent on a walking stick and wheelchair.

What is Phil Collins’s medical condition?

After injuring vertebrae in his upper neck in a car accident in 2009, Collins has been troubled by a series of health problems.

He was performing at the time of the accident, which resulted in severe nerve damage in his hands.

When he had surgery to fix his vertebrae, he lost the ability to feel his fingers and could only hold drumsticks with tape.

He was soon unable to play the drums that had made him a sensation because of the injury.

Collins said in a note posted on the Genesis website: “Somehow, during the previous Genesis tour, I displaced several vertebrae in my top neck, and that impacted my hands. ”

Although my neck surgery was a success, I still have problems using my hands regularly. For the time being, playing the drums or the piano is out of the question for me.

Upon his retirement and the divorce of his third wife, Collins revealed in his 2016 autobiography that he had fought alcoholism for three years.

A diabetic abscess on his foot that had become infected in the following year showed that he was a type 2 diabetic who had undergone therapy in a hyperbaric chamber.

When the singer slipped in his hotel room at night and banged his head on a chair, it resulted in a nasty cut near his eye and necessitated the cancellation of two gigs in 2017.

Following a back procedure, Collins acquired a problem known as ‘foot drop,’ which necessitates orthotic footwear.

He now walks with the aid of a cane and performs on stage from a chair. As a result of his pancreatitis, Collins has also been diagnosed with acute pancreatitis, which occurs when the pancreatic swells and inflames quickly.

“Within months you’re drinking vodka from the fridge in the morning and falling over in front of the kids, you know,” he said during a news conference in 2016.

“I came really near to dying,” he said. “I was incredibly fortunate to survive.”

Precisely who is his child?
