The Kendall County Health Department offers several services to improve the community’s health.

As a Kendall County institution since 1966, the Health Department has grown into a respected medical care supplier, counseling, and other social services.

Thanks to the Health Department’s innovative organizational design, many services are provided to residents of the neighborhood.

Through individual and community-wide initiatives, the Kendall County Health Department works to improve residents’ overall well-being and reduce the county’s disease and illness burden.

To achieve this goal, KCHD will:

  1. Foster an environment conducive to healthy behaviors, focusing on prevention, education, and public safety.
  2. Challenge the public to adopt a positive self-image and view of others so that individuals can be empowered to protect their communities’ health.
  3. Work in partnership with other health systems to identify unmet needs in health and human services and develop or coordinate appropriate responses.

Blood pressure checks, energy assistance, home weatherization, immunization clinic, mental health treatment, nutritional education, parent education, self-sufficiency supports, substance abuse treatment, tuberculosis testing, well testing, and eldercare wellness services are all part of what is offered.

Many of the people we help rely on the meaningful services provided by the Child Advocacy Center, the Veterans Assistance Commission, the Kane County Department of Education and Employment, and the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children and Families (all of which are located on the same campus as the Health Department).

Our community interaction procedures include cultural competency and stakeholder participation, which benefit our planning and services.

Kendall County’s Health Department has been striving for years to become self-sufficient, and now they have the expertise and the infrastructure to make it happen.

The knowledge and organization we have established allow us to provide the most effective, tailored care to every person and family we have the honor of serving.

Community Action Advisory Board, Mental Health Advisory Board, Environmental Advisory Committee, and Community Health Advisory Committee all report to the Board of Health, which in turn reports to the mayor and city council. Immunizations

Always choose illness prevention over treatment. Vaccines protect those who come into touch with inoculated persons while protecting those who get the vaccine from contracting the illness.

Vaccines are a life-saving tool for disease prevention. Diseases including polio, measles, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), rubella, mumps, tetanus, and Haemophilus influenzae type b are now rare because of vaccines (Hib).

Even if the number of reported instances of vaccine-preventable diseases in the United States is at or near a record low, the viruses and bacteria that cause these illnesses are still there.

Diseases that have been eradicated in the United States, like polio, are still only a plane trip away in other countries. Those who are not immunized may get illnesses like polio and others.

Visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Illinois Department of Public Health, or the American Academy of Pediatrics for more details about vaccinations and immunization.
