About Globo Gym
You’d hear a lot more about the Globo gym lifestyle in the early days of CrossFit (gosh, we’re growing old). In Dodgeball, “Globo Gym” refers to “normal” gym workouts, such as bodybuilding and isolation exercises.
As CrossFitters, we’ve been taught to eschew all forms of globo and aesthetics to focus on the utilitarian aspects of our training.
Meanwhile, we still want to look nice, even though functional fitness will serve you well later in life (imagine yourself at 80 years old attempting to get off a toilet). Is it not a misdemeanour?
As a result, this is our revised stance: being functionally fit is a positive thing. Performance-based training that includes the full range of motion and strength is a wonderful thing to have.
On the other hand, isolated lifts, fitness for the sake of appearance, and exercising smaller muscles (such as the glutes) may be beneficial.
After returning to our normal post-quarantine timetable this summer, we should expect to observe some new developments.
On Mondays and Thursdays, we’ll begin a six-week aesthetic cycle that includes some isolated lifts, with Fridays serving as make-up days. Upper- and lower-body exercises alternate daily, and abs are always a part of the mix.

Because no one can refute the reality that compound lifts like the Clean and the Snatch enable your body’s bigger muscles to take control, not only for cosmetic reasons (like the quads).

5 Misconceptions of Globo Gym
As a long-time CrossFit athlete and instructor, the things I’ve acquired have been invaluable. My biggest takeaway from this experience is that you should never judge a book by its cover, and the same goes for judging a gym by its equipment.
As a seasoned CrossFitter and coach, I’ve gleaned quite a few helpful insights. Another key lesson I’ve learned is to not judge a book or a gym by its cover or, in this instance, by its equipment.
Due to an injury rehab program, I recently worked out in a globo gym. From the get-go, I felt like a part of the family. Though I had vowed never to return to a globo gym, this was the perfect setting for my recuperation, I was still apprehensive about doing so.
When I arrived, I had several preconceptions about what my experience would be like. If you’re interested in working out, this gym has a sports performance section, is privately owned, and is not affiliated with any franchise or licensing organization.
One of the things that caught me off guard was how much it reminded me of my early CrossFit days. People went out of their way to meet and greet me throughout my time in Japan.
As a result, my mind began to open up, and I was able to examine some of my preconceived notions. The following are some erroneous beliefs I had, which you may also have, and what the facts revealed:
1. Misconception: All of them are there to make themselves seem stunning.
A normal CrossFit facility will have a higher concentration of figure and bodybuilding competitions than a globo gym, but that doesn’t imply everyone there is aiming to be one of the “beautiful people.”
I realized that most individuals are really concerned about their health through open discussions. People here can understand the term paleo. In the end, vanity comes in many forms—and we all have one thing in common: We all want to look and feel our best when we’re naked.
2. Misconception: Those who spend too much time looking in the mirror and not enough time working out are common in this area.
Many different types of individuals may be seen working out simultaneously in the same gym, including professional hockey players, powerlifters, and bodybuilders. All of them are very motivated, goal-oriented, and enthusiastic.
I was amazed by the attention to form and discipline during rest intervals. It was great to draw on each other’s diverse backgrounds and learn from their successful strategies. I’ve seen incredible feats of strength that I’ve never seen in a CrossFit gym in my time there. Respect.
3. Misconception: There is no group here.
CrossFit gyms take pride in fostering a sense of belonging among their members. The CrossFit family may be the largest global gym community, but there is one, and it is stronger than most people imagine.
There is a strong sense of community and support, and the workouts might be more varied than at a typical CrossFit box.
4. Misconception: The majority of people are clueless about this.
As CrossFitters, we take it for granted that most individuals just “go to the gym.” We presume that everyone has awful form and is simply interested in increasing their weightlifting strength.
However, as CrossFitters, we think we know what we’re talking about, and everyone else is incorrect. The truth is that terrible manners have no bounds.
5. Misconception: It’s better to do CrossFit.
Members of the CrossFit community are devoted to their workouts. We believe that CrossFit is the only approach to achieving your fitness goals.
There are, however, individuals whose aims do not need a workout regimen like CrossFit. Machines and mirrors help some individuals achieve their goals.
Some individuals have little interest when it comes to high-intensity workouts that continually switch up. Others don’t consider routine to be a bad thing.
Others may benefit from the globo gym even if it isn’t for me. Functional fitness and CrossFit have a special place in my heart and soul.
CrossFit has taught me a lot, including embracing discomfort, making the most of each training session, and, most importantly, having an open mind about fitness.
Even though our objectives may vary, those who train have a common belief, regardless of training style. There is a larger community of fitness out there that we are all a part of.
