Do I get to keep this, or does Adapt Health?

You may rent almost all of your medical gear. Equipment rentals have a maximum term of 13 months before buying options (Capped Rental). 

While the title to the equipment remains with Adapt Health throughout the Capped Rental Period, it passes to the patient after the Capped period ends, provided the patient has met all financial responsibility requirements, such as the deductible and co-payment. In other cases, the equipment is bought just as it is delivered.

The patient, in this case, would be considered the owner of the apparatus.

Equipment maintenance is your duty whether you rent, buy, or use your gear. Renters’ insurance will cover the rental cost but will not cover damage from improper usage.

Every five years is the typical cutoff for insurance carriers to begin covering the cost of new equipment. You must provide us access to the machinery for servicing and maintenance purposes.

What exactly does “Capped Rental” entail?

One kind of medical gear covered under Original Medicare is known as “Capped Rentals.” Items such as continuous positive airway pressure machines, nebulizers, hospital beds, and manual wheelchairs fall under this category.

After a particular rental period (often 13 months), you will own this piece of equipment, paid for by Medicare. We will cover the cost of any necessary preventative maintenance that arises within the Capped Rental term.

You are responsible for maintenance and repairs after the Capped Rental period ends, but Original Medicare may contribute to the cost.

Since Medicare will not cover the cost of a new item until after 5 years, it is essential to hold on to the equipment even if you no longer need it. Get in touch with us if there are any issues with your equipment.

Where can I get oxygen tank refills and other necessities?

Pick them up from our office or give us a call, and we’ll ship them to you if they are part of the rental package (such as oxygen cannulas and tubing).

If the rental does not contain the necessary materials (such as a CPAP mask or nebulizer kit), you will need to contact us to approve the refill.

We’ll let you know when your replenishment window opens, and all we can do is remind you; that you have to give us the go-ahead before we can ship anything.

These items are usually sent from a central warehouse and may take several days to arrive, and supply deliveries may take up to two weeks.

If you need oxygen supplies (such as cylinders), please notify our office at least 48 hours in advance. Delivery timings vary by location, and we’d want to be sure to include them in your preferred delivery window.

If you ever find yourself in need of cylinders, you know where to find us.

Do you have any availability after hours?

The company has personnel available around the clock to respond to emergency service requests every day of the week.

When seconds count, dial 911 for immediate assistance. Don’t hesitate to contact our office if you have problems with your equipment that cannot wait.

The problem will be solved over the phone, or the equipment will be replaced if it cannot be fixed. If a situation isn’t an emergency, it will be dealt with the next working day.

Our oxygen refill and supply deliveries are limited to regular business hours. Please note that standard supply and refill deliveries are not made on weekends or holidays.

When should my doctor provide me with this info?

Most of our gear may only be obtained after a consultation with a medical professional and a written prescription.

Furthermore, your doctor’s order for medical equipment has to be backed up by clinical proof in your medical record. Insurance companies, notably Medicare, are becoming more stringent in their requirements for supporting evidence and may refuse to pay if the paperwork does not conform to their standards.

Oxygen and PAP therapy are two devices that need periodic check-ins with a medical professional to ensure the treatment is effective.

Repeatedly, your insurance has stringent restrictions about when you must follow up and what kind of proof you must provide.

Insurance may not cover equipment costs if you fail to visit your doctor when necessary or if your doctor fails to provide accurate documentation in your medical record.

We will assist you, but ultimately it is your job to ensure that your doctor follows the guidelines set out by your insurance company.

To whom should I turn for funding to purchase this apparatus?

Payment in whole or in part is required before or at the time the service is rendered. Everything from bedside commodes to CPAP supplies will be included in this.

If that’s not the case, we’ll send your insurance the charge. There is a wide range of what various insurance providers, including Medicare, will cover for medical devices and other necessities.

Unfortunately, we can’t give you a precise estimate of what you will owe at the time of service. Your insurance carrier is the best source of information on the actual cost of your tools.

If you need assistance, call the member services number or visit the website mentioned on your insurance ID card.

At the time of setup, we will need payment information (such as a credit card or bank account number) that may be used to make future payments toward any deductibles or co-payments.

Following the receipt of payment from your insurance company, you will get a statement from us detailing the amount you owe and the date on which we will automatically deduct that amount from your designated payment method.

Due to the unpredictability of insurance company payments, we cannot provide monthly invoices for rental equipment. If you have any questions about your bill, you may reach out to the person listed on it.

How does Original Medicare pay the provider for oxygen equipment and supplies?

(The original Medicare only covers the cost of renting oxygen equipment; it does not cover the cost of buying it.)

Adapt Health provides oxygen equipment on a 36-month rental basis to those with Original Medicare who need it. Suppose your medical need for oxygen persists after 36 months of payment.

In that case, we will continue to provide you with oxygen equipment and accompanying supplies for up to 5 years from the setup date.

After the first 36 months of rental payments and 5 years from the setup date, Medicare will be billed just for the cost of the oxygen itself, whether you get tanks or liquid.

After the first 36 months, we will charge Medicare for up to three maintenance and service visits. When our current 5-year term expires, we’ll start a new one.

During this 5-year term, you will be responsible for the upkeep of any oxygen equipment that belongs to Adapt Health.

Costs and coverage details might change depending on whether you have Original Medicare, a Medicare Advantage plan, or private insurance. If you want specifics regarding your policy, you should contact your insurer.

How does competitive bidding affect me?

The Medicare Competitive Bidding Program may affect you if you reside or travel to specific locations.

In places where competitive bidding is in effect, Medicare will only assist cover the cost of particular pieces of medical equipment and supplies if approved Contract Suppliers supply them, and the patient has Original Medicare.

No Contract Supplier may charge you more than the 20% coinsurance and any unmet annual deductible for any item covered by the Competitive Bidding Program.

Adapt Health is a Contracted Supplier of this item in your Competitive Bid Area.

Some vendors here are not on the approved list of Contracted Suppliers.

Be sure to inquire whether the provider is an Original Medicare Contracted Supplier for any additional equipment you may want.

OK, but what if I want to go somewhere?

It is OK to bring gear along on a vehicle trip, and you can easily carry most of our gear wherever you go.

If there is any equipment you will require at your final location, please get in touch with us at least two weeks before your trip.

Please note that Medicare does not cover the cost of oxygen for air travel, and we are not obligated to supply you with a portable oxygen concentrator (POC) that the airline permits.

A limited number of Adapt Health portable Oxygen concentrators are available for loan to tourists.

As soon as, please make a reservation for your POC. Also, Adapt Health may refer you to a doctor or other healthcare professional who may assist you while you’re in the air.

Medicare does not cover international travel and Adapt Health does not ship equipment overseas. Several businesses offer this service nowadays, some of which may be found online.

What provisions should I make if I have to leave my current residence for a lengthy time?

In the first 36 months of your oxygen rental agreement, we will assist you in finding a new provider in your new region if you move or are away for a lengthy time (weeks to months).

If you relocate or go on an extended trip between the third and fifth years of your oxygen rental contract, Adapt Health will find you a new Supplier or continue to provide your oxygen.
